| Summary | The State prosecuted JonathanDValmont for failure to comply and alternatively for command misconduct after he accepted a Commandant appointment for the portrait burning parade and undertook in writing to attend. The written judgement
JonathanDValmont held one of the four appointments for the portrait burning parade and undertook, in writing, that he would attend. The parade on 5 September ran late and ran badly, and it was the leaders who were supposed to prevent exactly that. He was one of them. Whatever else is said, the plain fact is that the thing he was appointed to help carry was not carried in good order or in good time, and part of that sits with him.
The court is not going to dress this up as treachery. It was a failure to do the job, on a day the job was public and mattered, and that is what the finding of guilt under the failure to comply records. The alternative count of command misconduct adds nothing once that is said, and it is dismissed.
He is not the man the others were told to learn from, and the court weighs that in his favour when it comes to what he owes. Following the same restraint the Ministry showed after the Victory over Teutonnia parade, where strippings and demotions were asked for and never handed down, the court does not reduce him in rank. He is set a penance at the hall of penance, so that he answers for the failure and does something to put it right. The Grand Order of the Eternal Flame is not awarded, because it was conditional on the parade being carried well, and it was not.
